Welcome to Yang Martial Arts

At yang martial arts we teach two disciplines, one of which is freestyle kung fu and the other is kickboxing. Freestyle kung fu is based on the emphasis of the center line of attack and the circle of the Ying and Yang for defence,  deflecting energies of attack without using force. Kickboxing is based on light continuous sparring along with padwork and fitness. Classes are based in and around the Colchester area.

We hold separate junior and adult classes as well as some mixed classes for parents who want to train alongside their children. Beginners are welcome from the age of 5 upwards.

Martial arts is proved to increase fitness, flexibility, co-ordination, confidence, weight loss and stamina as well as teaching self defence, self control, respect for others and many life skills which are essential for a healthy and happy life.

Kickboxing

 

Kickboxing is a fast growing sport in the UK. As well as building cardio vascular fitness, it improves stamina, speed and co-ordination. By combining combinations of kicks and punches, blocks, sweeps, throws and takedowns.  These are put together to create continuous semi-contact sparring. We use focus pads for target training, and to help improve speed, power and learning combinations. Circuit training helps improve overall fitness levels. Flexibility plays a large part in most sessions, which are made to be beneficial to every individual no matter of current individual fitness levels as we seek for all our students to progress steadily.

 

 

 

Kung Fu

 

Yang school is a freestyle Kung Fu based on the emphasis of the centre line of attack and the Circle of the Ying-Yang  for defence.  Deflecting energies of attack without using force, therefore strength, size and power is only  an advantage not an  essential.  The emphasis is making the art adapt around the individual regardless of age, size or physical fitness. You can reach your goals in Kung Fu with a positive attitude and hard work.

 

Children

 

Children and Vulnerable Adults are often influenced by their surroundings which is why at Yang Martial Arts we provide a safe and friendly atmosphere for all children to train in. The benefits of martial arts training to children are endless. Many of our junior students benefit from an increase in confidence, improved self-discipline, improved communication skills, learn to work as part of a team, achieving goals, improved balance and having fun in a controlled way, while being treated with respect and having their achievements celebrated. All of our instructors are fully aware of our child protection policy.
